Foot health for sandal season

I hope you are all happy and well, and the sun is shining where you are. Today I'm going to talk a little bit about foot health. Our feet take a beating every single day. Think about all the hours we stand, walk and run with our feet. Now put into the equation, wearing ill fitting shoes, weight gain, dropped arches or bunion. Women are 75% more likely to suffer from foot pain than men (ahem...high heels). 

The human foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments, 19 muscles and tendons. The 52 bones in your feet make up about 25 percent of all the bones in your body.

Foot exercise is likely the great way to keep your foot healthy and in great shape. Your feet also need to breathe because most of the time they are trapped in an ill-fitted shoes.  When they are trapped inside closed shoes for long hours, their muscles will become stiff which results to flat feet.

Foot exercise and stretch is very important in dealing with foot pain. Simple stretching can reduce pain and increase the blood circulation in your foot. It is also beneficial for those who are suffering from ball and heel pain. Below I've included one of my favourite Dance Foot Exercises and Stretches for healthy and flexible feet. Another favourite is to have a tennis ball and roll under your feet white watching TV or sitting in front of the computer.


Summer is almost here and, along with warmer temperatures, come bacterial foot odor, an increased risk of athlete’s foot, and swollen feet. Treat your feet to our Lavender & Olive oil salt scrub after a good soak. Lavender & rosemary have antiseptic properties, while the sea salt will scrub away rough skin around the heels and toes. Olive oil and almond oil soften skin and lock in moisture. I find this great to do in the evening and wear thick socks to bed so your skin fully absorbs the olive oil and essential oils for silky smooth skin. You can use this on your hands / feet or whole body.
